Residencies
BioArt Residency (2022), Futuristic Research in Enigmatic + Aesthetics Knowledge (FREAK) Lab | Naresuan University, Phitsanulok, Thailand
The art + science residency programme served as a platform for discussion and collaboration between artists, scientists, and locals on life sciences and culture. At the end of the residency, I held an artist talk on engineering a bioluminescent plant, and led a performance artwork, 'prayer'. The residency extended to a 5-day public BioArt Workshop from 15 - 19 March 2023 by FREAK Lab in collaboration with Singapore Art Museum. During the workshop, I collaborated with artist Weeratouch Pongruengkiat (Wave) to present an interactive installation The Offering to Nature and a workshop The Spirit House. Together with biochemist Waritsaya Panya (Peilin), we presented a sharing on "A Curious Mould to a Wonder Drug: Penicillin & Antibiotics and How to Grow Them".

Pisaot art residency programme (2018), Sa Sa Art Projects | Phnom Penh, Cambodia
To explore the incorporation of interactive technology in other art forms, I collaborated with Prumsodun Ok, a traditional Khmer dancer. Drawing on themes of light and darkness inspired by his sister's passing, we created a performance, Body of Light, symbolising her safe passage through the underworld. The space featured sheer fabric, a soil-covered floor, and projections of his movements using light-sensing technology, creating an immersive, dynamic environment during the performance.

Artist-in-Residence program, Tentacles Gallery (2018) | Bangkok, Thailand
During my artist residency at Tentacles Gallery, I met an artist from Pattani, Thailand, who spoke Malay. This encounter led me to seek out other Malay-speaking locals in Bangkok. Such interactions triggered a sense of connection, rooted in our common use of the Malay language, and sparked off an exploration into the Malay / Malay-speaking communities in Bangkok. The residency culminated in a solo exhibition at Tentacles Gallery, A Sense of Belonging: Neither Here Nor There.
